August Elemental Inspiration

 

WOW, is it August already?  Anyone else counting down the days until school starts again?  My eldest has become obsessed about buying new school supplies and it has to include an emoji somewhere. 

 

As its the first Friday of August its an elemental inspiration challenge from Daring Cardmakers.

 

Look at the bright summery image that Miri our host has picked this week.

 

Remember to use at least 3 elements on your card.

 

 

I picked bright colours, flamingo, bold sentiment and a textured background.

 

 

To create my background I used my twinkling H2O's.  I haven't used these for ages.  I took a piece of white card stock and swished the colours onto my craft sheet and sprayed a little water over the top.  I then pressed my card stock into the colours.

 

Once dried I ran the card through my Spellbinders Platinum Machine using the Blistered Embossing Folder By Tammy Tutterow.

 

I then added more colour using the same technique as above to smaller pieces of cardstock and used the Shapeabilities Tropics Wild and Free set by Debi Adams.  I cut out the flamingo and some of the leaves.

 

 

 

The sentiment is from the Shapeabilities Simply Said Phrase 2 Set which I cut from black mirror card.

Happy Birthday Paper Sweeties

Just wanted to stop by today to wish Paper Sweeties a very happy 5th birthday.

Its challenge time over on their blog and the challenge is to make a card inspired by the photo below.

 

 

As its their birthday I went with a cupcake theme for my creation using the Sending Sweet Thoughts stamp and die set from Paper Sweeties.

 

I made a couple of cards for this challenge and I just had to make them both shaker cards.

 

 

I used the cupcake from the set and placed it inside a star die cut shape for the shaker element and added a little flag with the sentiment stamped inside.

 

For the second shaker I used a square shape and paper pieced the little cupcake inside with matching papers.

 

I made my cards bright and cheerful.  Perfect for a birthday.

 

Look at the cute sequins.  There are balloons and streamers.  I stole them from my daughters craft stash but don't tell her.

Happy 8th Birthday

Hello All.

 

My daughter has recently been to a birthday party and we needed a card for an 8 year old boy and I knew I had the perfect die set for this one.

This is the set from Spellbinders and Debi Adams called Count The Stars which is from the Little Re Wagon collection.

 

Its such a sweet set that comes with a stamp, a number die and some stars.

 

 

I stamped the sentiment first in black ink.

 

I decided to use the negative space using the number die on my card and just filled it in with the appropriate age in gold card stock.

 

I then cut out one of the stars in gold card stock and added a few sequins to finish.

 

I very quick card if you need one in a hurry and suitable for any age.

 

 

I then thought how cut would a matching gift bag be? So I made one as well.  I used the stars again cut from gold card stock and designer paper along with number 8.

Welcome to Wonderland

Hello Crafters.

 

Such an exciting challenge this week at Daring Cardmakers.  On 28th July 1951 Disney's Alice In Wonderland premiered in the US.  So this weeks dare is to make a card based on the theme of wonderland or one of the characters.

 

 

Just sharing a little bit of local history from where I once lived.  This is a hotel that Lewis Carroll often visited in Whitby which is only a few miles from where I grew up in the North East of England.

 

I went with a tea party theme to match the Mad Hatters Tea Party and with an "Eat Me" cake that Alice took a bite from to make her grown very tall.

 

 

 

I stamped the little cupcake on to cream card stock and coloured the icing and cake with promakers.  I then paper pieced the bottom of the cupcake with some pretty striped paper to look like a cupcake case.  I added a little eat me label using the Die D-Lites Spring Time set from Spellbinders.

 

I created the bunting using the Die D-Lites Sweet Set from Spellbinders and cut out the smallest size bunting from some pretty spotty paper and added a little bit of twine to the ends.

I then used the Nestabilities Celebrations Pierced Circles to create the layout for my card.

 

For the greeting I die cut this from kraft card stock using Simply Said Phrase one set.

Christmas In July

Anyone started Christmas crafting yet?

 

I love to Christmas craft and I thought if I made at least one card a week then I would be ahead come the festive month.  I also challenged myself this week to make a Christmas card using a none Christmas die set.

So this week my Spellblogger post with Spellbinders is to show you that you can create a card for Christmas using the lovely Die D-Lites Springtime Set.

 

 

 

I die cut the bird house and little bird from the set first and added a little glitter to look like freshly fallen snow. 

 

I then created my background using 3 different coloured inks as I wanted to create a magical snowy scene.  I then stamped the tree in black and added more glitter.

 

To create the snow banks I just tore some paper and added glitter to the ripped edge and used foam pads to add a bit of dimension.  I then finished with a stamped greeting,

 

The sketch for the card was a previous challenge from over at Freshly Made Sketches.  I didn't get to play as I was away on our family holiday for this one.

 

I love a die set that has a multitude of uses.

All Tied Up

  Yippee its Friday.

 

Its time for a challenge at Daring Cardmakers.  Kathy is our lovely host this week and would like to see string, fibres or thread used on your card in a creative way.

 

I decided to make a wreath using some string.

 

I looped the string round a few times then stuck it to my embossed card stock.  The embossing folder I used is by Tammy Tutterow called blistered from Spellbinders.  I just added a little bit of white ink to the edges as I thought it was just to much grey.

 

 

For the little details on the wreath I used the Die D-Lites Springtime set from Spellbinders.  I just used the little butterfly and flower.

 

 

 

I then added the greeting using some copper mirror card and used the Shapeabilities Simply Said Phrase 2 die set from Spellbinders.

 

I finished with a few sequins as I love my sparkle.

If You Go Down To The Woods Today.....

 Hello All.

 

Here we are with a super fun challenge from the Daring Cardmakers.

 

If you go down to the woods today.....

 

 Enfys our lovely host this week has picked this really fun theme.

 

 Make a card using anything that conjures up the great outdoors - picnics, camping, woodland walks.

 

I went with owls.  I live in the middle of the countryside so we are surrounded by woodland and in the evenings you can often hear the owls.

 

 

For my card I first made the background and I created a sunset using some blue, pink and orange ink pads. I masked off the moon shape first before applying the ink and I then sprayed a little water over the top.  I added a silhouette of an owl sitting on some branches.  I used the owl builder punch from Stampin Up for this.

 

The little fire flies on the card are taken from the jar of love set also by Stampin Up.

 

I then used the stamp set from Indigoblu called nature I and stamped the image along the bottom.

 

I never got around to stamping a greeting as I wasn't sure what type of occasion my card related to.  I felt it covered a wide range so I just thought less is more on this one.

 

To me its a perfect summers dusk.
