Yellow Brick Road

Hello everyone.

I recently shared with my little craft group how I design a card and especially if I am stuck for a design layout.  Sometimes I find the layout the hardest part of crafting.

When this happens I turn to one of my favourite sketch challenges blogs.  Sketch challenge blogs are a great place to look for inspiration and one of my favourites is Freshly Made Sketches.

So today I am sharing a card where I have used the layout below from the challenge blog to create my card.

The inspiration from my card came from the film The Wizard of Oz.

To create the card I started by using the Bricks and Mortar 3D embossing folder to create the yellow brick road back ground.

I then cut two circles from the some of the Peaceful Poppies designer series paper as the wicked witch made dorothy and her friends fall asleep using the field of poppies to stop them from reaching the Emerald City.

I next stamped and glittered the shoes from the Dressed To Impress Bundle and I also used the sentiment from the same set.  I finished my card using some the sequins from the Peaceful Poppies Suite.

I love how this card has turned out especially including a little nod to my favourite film.
Maybe next time I will make the card with a little nod to the books and change the shoes as the shoes are meant to be silver and not ruby red.

The shoes were changed for the film to take advantage of the new technicolour film process.    When I was a child I also loved reading the Wizard of Oz books by L Frank Baum.

Thanks for stopping by toady and stay safe.

  1. Really? I never thought that finding a layout is a challenge for you. I think all of your cards have such a different layout and they all look great.
I might have to check out your "secret" inspirations on the sketch website ;-)
