International Literacy Day

Well that's the first week of school over and back to our routine.  We are really looking forward to this next school year and hopefully get our youngest out of his nappies and into school.

Its Joanne's turn to host this week dare over at Daring Cardmakers. So as its International Literacy Day let's celebrate the joy of the written word. You could feature books on your card, acknowledge a
special teacher or even celebrate a favourite literary character.

I made a back to school card.

The sentiment on the front nearly said "Hooray" but I thought that was a bit mean.

I included books on my card by using some back to school designer papers.

I then added a little globe die cut from Spellbinders called Die D-Lites World View.  The die comes in two parts the globe stand and the earth.

I cut the stand from gold mirror card stock and the earth from white card stock and coloured this using ink.

I then added a little sentiment and a star to finish.

Looking at my card it kind of reads "hello world"

I suppose its a little nod to all children going back to school this week and they are ready to absorb  all that knowledge.

I hope you will stop by the Design Team blogs for more lovely inspiration.

Have a great weekend.

  1. Love the globe and the book paper! You can tell you're not a programmer though - "hello world" would probably have made you think of learning a new programming language!

  2. Your card is fab Dawn - books really do open up the world.

One of the quotes I found (Anna Quidlen) suits your card perfectly "Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination, and the journey. They are home."
